Since its earliest days the Church of the Nazarene has had a strong emphasis on world missions. In 2007 the Church has adopted a new concise mission statement: "To make Christ-like disciples in the nations" a firm confirmation of global interests. NMI is the organisation within our denomination with the brief to mobilise the church in missions through the areas of education, prayer, giving and interactive experiences. NMI in fact works to support missionaries, national workers and volunteers in 151 world mission areas. Each church runs its own local NMI branch and has goals to achieve the needed support. Together Nazarene churches world-wide support over 700 missionaries and national workers. The ministries are many and varied - evangelism, training pastors, schools, Bible colleges, clinics, health projects, child development schemes and the foundations for compassionate ministries and disaster relief etc. Once a new church in any country becomes self-supporting it, in turn, helps to support the work of NMI. In today’s world many of the previous "receiving" countries are also "sending" countries. Involvement for local congregations includes attending district events and short-term mission projects such as Work & Witness or Youth In Mission; Individuals with a call to missions pursue this through their local and district NMI, then through the; World Mission department. King’s Lynn Church of the Nazarene runs its own local branch of Nazarene Missions International and every year aims to share in the support of Nazarene missionaries. This means our church taking part in education, prayer, giving, involvement and informing young people about NMI. Thanks to our pastor, a supportive church board, an active NMI council and a generous congregation we have:
The British Isles: South District NMI organises a short-term 'Work & Witness' missionary project every two years. Individuals from King’s Lynn have been involved in some of these: 2000, Liz Yaxley and June Mitchell went to Bulgaria. 2002, John Yaxley went to the Ukraine. 2004, Ian Mitchell went to Sicily and in 2006, Ian and June Mitchell went to Hungary.
